From new ways to enhance productivity and quality control to increasing process efficiency and employee safety, mobile apps are allowing manufacturing enterprises to transition towards greater automation and digitization.
Our client, a mid-sized textile company recognized their need to evolve beyond traditional safety protocols & practices. They were exploring modern, tech-assisted solutions to ensure infallible security for their employees.

Even with strict security standards in place, employees were working with several potential hazards that had led to injuries. With powerful machines, transport vehicles, and chemicals a routine part of the workplace, our client demanded tighter control on worker safety to minimize hazards and accidents.
The client’s facility consists of multiple facilities including the weaving, dyeing & finishing, raw material storage, cafeteria, warehouse, maintenance, admin office, maintenance, and break areas. Existing safety controls & practices were dependent on human oversight, and had already led to errors, distractions, and fatigue in supervisors. The repercussions of an accident could lead to hefty fines, tainted company image, potential lawsuits, or all of the above.
Our team was confronted by some of the most complex challenges, with the safety of employees in a hazardous environment on the line. Two project managers, one designer, and four developers were assigned to the project.
After conducting in-depth research and consultancy sessions with the client, Crownsoft’s project team identified that the ideal solutions would be integrating AI-powered camera technology and IoT alarm systems with a progressive web app (PWA) developed with React Native for web. Manufacturers of both devices were chosen based on the availability and capabilities of their APIs to integrate with the PWA.
A custom progressive web application was developed with React for web. The AI camera feeds and IoT alarm systems were integrated with the PWA using their respective API and SDK, allowing the devices to send out notifications, process video feeds, and analyze IoT alarm data.
The PWA dashboard was set up to monitor camera video feeds, status of IoT alarms, view logs, and control AI cameras & alarms. The web application was embedded with WebSockets for real time updates, and Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications to team members.
The Crownsoft design team created a simplified UI for the PWA dashboard focused on features including user access & authorization, alarm control, camera adjustments, log reports, and status indicators. Alert systems were also built into the PWA to notify admins and supervisors of any triggered alarms and provide updates of system issues using in-app alerts.
Collaborating with the Crownsoft team, the textile company deployed AI cameras across the entire facility to monitor on-site activities. Video streaming from the AI cameras to the PWA was accomplished using real-time streaming protocol (RTSP), integrated with RTSP simple server API. The Crownsoft team deployed an on-site Backend server to manage devices, process data, and handle events.
The last piece of the puzzle was the deployment of an IoT integrated alarm system, powered by the HTTPS protocol to avoid development complexity. The system was connected with the web app dashboard for real time safety and environmental condition monitoring. The backend for the IoT alarm system was developed with Python. Since the alarms communicate over HTTPS, endpoints were set up to interact with all devices.
Utilizing IoT sensor technology and AI cameras the alarm systems continuously monitor and transmit data to the web application notifying supervisors about potential threats and events. Equipped with fire alarms, early warning alerts, and instant notifications, the IoT based security system was designed to immediately trigger alarms in case of a potential incident.
Crownsoft was privileged to have partnered for this project, which turned out to be a resounding success. Our esteemed client managed to successfully engage over 10,000 new customers, while improving the Page Speed scores for their new eCommerce website. It was also one of Crownsoft’s earliest projects, accomplished with a 100% satisfaction score. Our collaboration with the client continues to this day for consistent security, design and feature updates.
